Reza Shahabi has been facing death for years in the torture dungeons of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He is a member of the Sherkat Vahat (Bus Drivers’) Syndicate and was imprisoned for demanding pay increases within the Syndicate’s struggle to eliminate the hunger, poverty and misery of his fellow members. The brutal, predatory and inhumane capitalist regime of Iran not only does not tolerate even at this level the demand from a worker but also considers this activity worthy of death. Shahabi apparently has not been convicted to death, however, the brutal capitalist Islamic Regime without declaring the death penalty, actually has made all the necessary preparations to kill him. Shababi has endured the endless pain of his cervical vertebrae during his imprisonment. The severe pain and rate of the progression of his disease puts him in a situation where he is on the threshold of death. The Regime, rather than freeing him, rather than providing him with medication and medical care; they continue to provide the intolerable and horrific prison conditions for him on a daily basis. Shababi’s freedom from death is linked to support from workers around the world. Whereever you are, protest against the crimes of the bourgeois goverment of Iran and demand his immediate release and treatment.
